Have originated from Sri Lanka, CARAMBOLA, Balimbing in Tagalog, is quite popular in the Philippines , unfortunately, not because of the benefits it gives to one health but to its bad connotation (which is, I should add, is an injustice to the fruit). In the Philippines, a politician who jumps from one party to another, depending on where he can benefit the most, is called a Balimbing. Don't know where that connection came from.
Health Benefits from BALIMBING
- Abundant in antioxidants, Balimbing is an anti-Cancer fruit
- Vitamin C-rich, a boost to our immune system
