Native to the Malay Peninsula, BREADFRUIT is a staple food in many tropical regions (but not including the Philippines, I guess). The fruit is closely related to the Breadnut and the Jackfruit, no kidding. All parts of the tree yield latex, a milky juice, which is useful for boat caulking.
Not that familiar to Filipinos but a staple food in Hawaii where they often cook the fruit with Coconut milk they called Poi.
