Have originated in Southern Africa, WATERMELON has more than 1,200 varieties, ranging in sizes, shapes and flesh color (common flesh color is red but there are varieties with flesh color of orange, yellow and white). Some Watermelon plants were genetically modified that the shape of the fruit is cube (see picture)
